I’m a journalist and writer currently at CNN, where I’ve spent the last decade.

My reporting focuses on the intersection of culture, politics and identity — in other words, who we are and how we live. I also write a “Word of the Week” column, which examines a word in the news in an effort to make sense of our current moment.

In and outside of work, I’m especially interested in stories about the South Asian and Sikh diasporas.

I’m based in New York.
